We'll be introduced to our next character, Cecilia, whom has fallen asleep during class and dreamed of a Guardian calling out to her and a potential crisis for Filgaia. Awakened by her classmates, you will find that Cecilia is about to turn 17 and finally leave the Curan Abbey to return to Adlehyde; in which she is their Princess. You'll be encouraged to walk around the Abbey and say goodbye to everyone.
A room on the east-side of where Cecilia begins you will see a disaster of books. Talk to the the girl here and she will ask Cecilia to go and ask Anje to borrow the Pocket Watch to help clean up the books.
Take the exit to the south, then around the kitchen and search the barrel inside for a Mystic Apple. This will increase a character's Sorcery stat permanently. While increasing the effectiveness of magic attacks, Sorcery is also vital in growing your magic resistance stat.
Go up the nearby set of stairs and you can talk to Anje here. She will request that Cecilia use her Tear Drop tool on the stone she places on the table. Do so, and she will turn the Pocket Watch tool over to her. The Pocket Watch will reset puzzles to default in case you need a clean slate to try again.
Take the stairs on the opposite side of the ones that took you to Anje's room. You can use this area to rest, save, and pick up 20 Gella from a barrel in the bottom corner.
Return to the library and use the Pocket Watch to clean up all of the cluttered books. There will be a strange book left behind. Have Cecilia read it for the same Guardian from her dream to call out to her again...It is trapped inside the Sealed Library, located somewhere within the Abbey. We'll have to search for it.
Talk to the teacher in the next room to obtain Cecelia's first Crest Graph. You can use these at guilds, the first of which is in the southern-half of the Abbey where you got the Heal Berry, to learn new spells for Cecilia. I recommend picking up the Shield spell (White: Geo-Geo), as Cecilia, herself, will be weak physically. To find the Sealed Library, talk to the girl just north of the magic guild to hear about how the two statues in the courtyard have hidden switches.
Make your way to the courtyard, which there is an exit to between the classroom Cecilia woke up in and the one she cleaned with the Pocket Watch. Search both statues and flip their switches, then push the statues around to face one another, followed by using the Tear Drop tool in the center. Exit back out of the courtyard and you can use the Tear Drop at the blue symbol on the wall to transport to the Sealed Library dungeon.
There will be random encounters going forward, but nothing Cecilia shouldn't be able to handle. If you bought the Magical Rod and White Robe from Adlehyde with Rudy, make sure to equip them to make things much easier. One casting of Flame will easily take out a Blue Book, and if you run out of MP, you can always use the Tear Drop on the blue symbol to return to Curan Abbey to rest. For note, you can use Cecilia's Force ability, Mystic, on the Magical Rod to cast Blast (A non-elemental spell), and on the Magical Robe to cast Lock State. Lock State is particularly useful as it prevents status effects on a character for three turns.
The Blue Book enemy can also drop the Mage Staff, which is Cecilia's starting weapon. This is the only place in the game you can acquire multiple of this item. You'll eventually be locked out from entering the Sealed Library due to loss of the Tear Drop, but later on in the game you will be able to return. You can use Cecilia's Mystic Force on the Mage Staff during battle to cast the Shield spell, as well.
Use the Tear Drop on the sealed door and then in the next room smash the crate in the upper-right-hand corner to reveal a switch you can step on to open the door.
Pick up one of the crates and throw it at the switch to activate it and open the path forward, making sure to open the chests containing Medicine and Magic Carrot.
In the next room you'll do much the same, just make sure to save the third crate for throwing in the narrow passage. Step on the switch to make the activation crystal appear, first. Then take two Heal Berries from the treasure chests.
You'll then enter a huge library. It's highly suggested you read all the books on the shelves here: they contain not only history on Filgaia, but also hints on later available side-quests. In this room you will begin to encounter the Gagison enemy, as well. While not of particular concern, it can inflict you with the Disease status preventing Cecilia from healing and persists even after the battle is over. You can remedy this with a Medicine item, but if you don't have any, simply get into a battle and have Cecilia defend until her Force gauge reaches level 4. This will initiate what is called "Condition Green" and all status effects will be recovered from; extremely useful. There is a chest containing a Magic Carrot on the west-side of the library.
On the east-side is a chest with a helmet for Cecilia, the Capuche. You can never acquire more than one of this item, so make sure not to sell it. You can use Cecilia's Mystic Force ability on it to cast the spell Analyze, also.
There are three easily-found, teal-colored books laying around the library that you need to carry up to the top floor and throw into the fire to open the door to the bottom floor. Search the book in the final room to be thrown into a boss battle.
Hopefully you picked up the Shield spell earlier on in the Abbey as the Nelgaul only uses physical attacks. If you didn't, no worries, just make sure to keep a close eye on Cecilia's HP and cast Heal if it gets near 60 or below. Flame is all you need for offense.
Having defeated the book monster, the Guardian, Stoldark, will be freed and present the Water Rune to Cecilia. You'll then be back inside of Curan Abbey.
